Firefighting teams from Tiptree and Leigh responded to a call at Talisman Close, Tiptree, at 3:39 pm on Tuesday 20 February , tackling a blaze that erupted from a vehicle during a jump start attempt. The fire quickly spread, engulfing the car being jump-started and two adjacent vehicles.
“While it’s not uncommon for people to jump start their cars, you need to be really careful and have good knowledge about how to do it properly. If you’re not sure how to do it, don’t risk it, and seek professional advice. Always double check with your car manufacturer’s handbook for instructions.”
Maher further noted the fortunate absence of injuries, though the incident resulted in significant damage:
“Luckily no one was injured but unfortunately, due to the damage caused, all three vehicles have been written off.”
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of seemingly routine car maintenance tasks, underscoring the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and seeking expert assistance when in doubt.
