Firefighters responded swiftly to a fire report at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock, successfully extinguishing a blaze that erupted in the roof area of a multi-story car park. The emergency call was received at 2:52 PM, prompting immediate action.

Units from Grays, Corringham, and Brentwood were dispatched to tackle the fire. Upon arrival, they discovered the fire localised in the stairwell of the car park’s roof. The teams managed to extinguish the fire by 3:25 PM, preventing any further spread.

Watch Manager Danny Harper commended the crews for their efficient response. “Crews have done a great job, and have quickly stopped the fire from spreading further. We believe the fire started in the stairwell on the roof. Luckily there are no cars on this level, so no vehicles have been affected,” he stated.

Despite the successful extinguishment of the fire, its cause remains unclear. “An investigation will now be carried out into the cause of the fire,” Harper added, underscoring the ongoing efforts to determine the origins of the blaze.
