The research, conducted on behalf of Bosch, also identified the snacks responsible for the most crumbs. Sausage rolls, crusty bread, and Cadbury’s flakes topped the list. Weetabix, grated cheese, and shortbread biscuits were among the other notable culprits.
One notable crumb hotspot outside of the home is the cinema (22%), which ranked among the top three places where families indulge in snacks. The leading locations were in the car (39%) and at the park (24%).
With more than half of parents (53%) expressing embarrassment about the mess they leave in cinemas, Greg Rutherford, a father of three and Bosch ambassador, stepped in to address ‘crumbarrassment.’ He organized a cinema event during the half-term break, encouraging families to embrace the messiness. Participants were provided with the crumbliest snacks and given the opportunity to create as much mess as they liked during the film. Once the credits rolled, Bosch Unlimited 7 Vacuums were at their disposal to clean up the crumb chaos.
Greg Rutherford shared his own experience, saying, “I certainly suffer from ‘crumbarrassment’ – our kids can be messy inside and outside the home! Movie night always results in the most crumbs for us – down the back of the sofa, over the carpet – you name it, it’ll have crumbs on it. This event has been a great way to show parents that they’re not alone when it comes to kids creating crumb chaos, and that there’s a super simple solution in the Bosch Unlimited 7.”
